Make It Happen
Since Bike Corris started in 2015, Dave has been at the forefront of mountain biking in the Dyfi Valley. Guiding clients and hosting events has given him a unique insight in to clients’ expectations, which his knowledge of the area has allowed him to exceed. He is also a director of the Community Interest Company responsible for protecting and promoting trails in the Dyfi Forest, and is working hard with NRW to develop a new model for rider-developed trail networks such as these.
Also during this time, Dave has regularly been asked to advise on the mountain bike market by landowners and small businesses keen for a slice of the “muddy pound”. By combining his mountain bike expertise with the previous decade as a consultant engineer, Bike Corris can now offer professional services to help your business take maximum advantage of this fast growing and high-income sport.
If you are a landowner considering diversifying into mountain biking, but unsure of the best route to take, our Feasibility Report will let you know how to make the best use of your land. This package includes a half-day site visit to view the proposed area and take measurements. This is followed by a desk-top review of factors such as SSSI’s, opportunities and threats to the venue, and potential tie-ins with other riding venues in your area. The final report will describe the type of cycle-sport most suited to your site and give you the information you need if you wish to develop further.
For the family farmer considering an additional income, or the investor seeking to maximise return, this simple package will break down jargon and show if letting bikes on your land could be a source of valuable revenue.
Thanks to social media and exercise logging software, Secret Trails are fewer than ever. However, attitudes to rider-developed trails in Wales are changing, with public and private landowners more willing to listen to groups who take a professional approach.
As director of Dyfi Mountain Biking.cic, Dave is working with NRW to maintain a current way-marked community trail, and to add others to this network. He has over five years’ experience of advocacy and negotiation, plus implementation of the safety systems required to make such trails official.
If you are a community trail organisation struggling to be heard, I may be able to help.
Modern trails need modern management.
If you are already have an established trial network, but need the paperwork to back it up, we can help. Bike Corris can produce maps compatible with most modern GIS systems and generate Trail Inventories compatible with NRW’s Trail Inspection Regime.
A former IOSH qualified site manager in wind-farm development, Dave now sits on the National Trail Managers’ Forum and attends regular training to ensure the latest, peer-reviewed methods are applied to your site.
Photo shoots, demo days and bike launches need a backdrop to showcase the best your product has to offer. As well as guiding, we can provide conference facilities, outside catering, shuttles and expert advice on the best terrain to exhibit your products in style. Please contact us to discuss your needs.
